I don't think I've ever had anyone actually say anything to me about all the stuff I buy for Max. Most of the people who know me know how I am about my animals, so I think they think it's just sort of amusing. None of my friends have small dogs, so it's kind of a novelty to them and I think they aren't quite sure what to make of it, LOL. And my family knows better than to make any judgment when it comes to me and the animals.....I didn't travel or go anywhere overnight for over 10 years when I first got my parrots b/c it was too much hassle to take them or find a petsitter who was familiar with birds. I think they're just happy that I come to see them and are glad that I've got a portable companion

They can never have too many toys, for sure! Max gets so excited when I tell him I got him a new toy and he learns it's name almost immediately (how do they DO that?). Dh never says anything about buying new toys and I try not to go overboard buying clothes (meaning, I try to space it out a little).
I do think that my dh and I HAVE spoiled Max in another way though, and I'm going to take steps to remedy that situation. He needs to learn not to act like an attack dog when strangers come over....he was nipping at the new petsitter's heels yesterday
...(he's not staying with her though) and I finally had to put him in the bedroom and close the door.
