I have been asked this many times too and I simply reply,

"they are God's gift to us." When they ask their names and the oldest being Baby Blessing they just smile and say oh how nice.

Generally the subject isn't mentioned any further.

(Can't help but to comment, it really doesn't matter what breed one has, be it a mutt, Heinz 57 variety, all dogs make wonderful companions for us when they are treated well and cared for, the loyalty from them is so amazing and much to be appreciated.)

Wow, just counted, throughout my life time, I have had fourteen dogs, all different breeds,
loved the Dobermans, Yorkies, and one adorable mutt that my Aunt gave me at nine years of age :-) Named Mickey.
