Mojo had this same problem last year....he had his "love blanket". We had to get rid of it after he was neutered....while, the day he was gone, we put it in the closet....and then when he never wanted it, we threw it out.
Anyway, the vet was really concerned because Mojo would get "hung" and it would take a long time before his "swelling" would go down enough for his "wee-wee" to go back in. She said that this was NOT good at all....It is okay, of course, when a male does this inside a female, but not being out for an extended amount of time.
She told me that he needed to be neutered if we were not breeding him...we tossed that idea around years ago....
So, we went ahead and he hasn't had a "humping" problem ever since.
There were a lot of bad side effects that could happen with their wee-wee being out for awhile and rubbing on something "hard".....so, those out weighed our concerns and fears of getting him neutered.
