I have been standing on my head trying to get her to eat.

This is my first litter (I am a "virgin"). I thought eclampsia only happened during pregancy - not after. Now I am worried because she won't eat. I don't mean to take away from Bailey's problem, but when I read this, it freaked me out and I realize how little I know..... again! She will eat vanilla ice cream and I will go in and give her some when I finish this post.

I am already having feeding problems with one of the pups..... Where can I find more information about the signs of eclampsia?

Thanks.

I hope Bailey is back to good healt ASAP!

It could happen with big or even small litters. It will be more apt to happen if you cant get her to eat because the puppies suck all of the calcium out of her and her body shuts down and says no more. She was a little on the stiff side and literally every muscle in her body was convulsing. She couldnt control it. Their temps rise and you have to watch their heart rate. It wasnt like a seizure but more like all of the muscles spasming at once. She could barely walk to me and it could be fatal. They need a calcium drip immediately. If you can give her half a tums a day it would help prevent it. My problem is she wont eat anything so I cant sneak her one. I never thought to crush it and add it to her Esbilac. I am doing that with the calcium now.
