I was watching The Dog Whisperer last week, and Cesar had a case in which a little Bichon Frise was biting the female in the house. He gently and calmly placed one hand on the scruff of the dog's neck and one on her lower body and turned her over on her back and then side. This is what a pack leader would do if she were running with her dog pack. She stopped biting. Our Maltese used to do this when we tried to take a toy away, but I never had much success "rolling" him into a submissive position. NEVER hit your dog when she bites, but you do need to let her know who the pack leader is (and it's not her). |
