I don't know. I tried applying only half to Teddy and I would notice he would still itch. So the next month I applied the more than half to him, and he is without fleas. I haven't measured it out however, but I can eyeball it pretty good, to make sure he is given the right amount. all that talking and still haven't answered your question. i guess it just depends on you, and what you are most comfortable giving your dog.
