I know there are many people that have businesses that call themselves Interior Designers, but they are not academically educated in the field, but do usually have lots of experience in the arena. Right now, there is legislation that has passes or is in process of being passed in many states that will "Weed out" the non-degreed people, and they by law cannot call themselves Interior Designers. Even if you have a degree, you have to keep up with the continuing education and take tests to stay current and marketable. If it's something you're interested in, by all means, go for it! But, keep in mind that unless you have a 4 year degree in the field, it may be very difficult to find a good position that pays well, and that you're happy working in.

Right now, I work with only commercial interior environments, and it's challenging and interesting. There are rewards that come with it, but before you enter into a field like this one, I just wanted you to be aware of the reality of the busines and the requirements that are necessary to make good money in this type of career.

My cousin's husband works as an interior designer and he works for a company downtown. He said i am welcome to get an internship there if i want and was going to do it but now im not too sure. I'm very creative and have lots of ideas but maybe it's more than what i thought it was. I always thought ohhh i can just decorate rich people's houses and make a lot of money, i guess not. I'm just really really confused, i also am interested in flipping houses. But i barely know much about it. Maybe i can do that as a side job..anyhow whatever i do i will try to get the highest degree in. It's not like im anxious to quit school or anything, i always think that's key to getting a great job. Thank you for filling me in, i know it will be difficult whatever i choose.
