Carole,
Oh my gosh...makes me wonder WHAT happened the last time he was there. Dogs don't normally go from being fine at the groomer to being terrified. I'm not implying that she did anything wrong, just that something must have happened to freak him out.
Here's an example. Ginger used to love, love, love going to petsmart. We went for training there when she was a pup, and she'd search for her favorite person (the trainer) from the minute we got there. Then, one day, out of the blue, a forklift came driving around the corner. Scared the "you know what" out of her. Now she's fearful at pet smart. TG she still loves Pet Valu...I can still take her along somewhere.
I know you're upset and I would be too. It's frustrating when you've done everything right (taking him to get used to the groomer from a young age, etc) and they don't cooperate. If you decide to continue grooming him yourself, think of the money you'll be saving...and the one on one time you get to spend with him. And don't be too worried about how he looks the first time, it takes practice...
Good luck! |
