[QUOTE=Meg]

What kind of soft treats did you take?

QUOTE]

I found that the softer treats that are 'mushable' between your fingers were the easiest. Someone had recommended Mellow Mutts (which is a jerky type treat) but they are SO high in protein I was afraid to constepate her. I would bring an assortment of treats, just in case. But I found when you mushed them between your fingers and hold it there, the dog has to really work at it and that keeps them swallowing. The ice/water helped too. There were a few times I just opened her mouth and forced some water droplets on her teeth or tongue. I hate to use the word force, but there is no way to explain to them that they need to swallow. Or I would hold the ice cube and she would lick it.

Remember that it can be dangerous holding the bag in your lap. Things can move; but I felt that it was easier on Abby with my hand in the bag touching her than bending over to the floor to comfort her.
