I can only speak for myself.......but they checked my carry-on every time. They did not weigh my dog but also when you go through the check-point, I had to take him out of his carrier, run it through the scanner and walk with him through the metal detector.

I wasn't even allowed to bring in a water bottle (was made to surrender it).

I am talking about RECENT travel too not from back in the days when things were different pre-911.
