It is only an identification devise that allows anyone with a scanner to locate and contact the 24 Petwatch company who in turn notifies you of the dog being found so you do have to register your number with the company. So if you sell the dog then it is up to you to transfer the ID device to the new owner. A GPS system would be great but think it might be a bit more money than the implant for identification.
