You will be asking questions of the dam's owner. Has she been tested for STD's? What is the health of the dam and her family? What will dam's owner do if there is a litter of one? What kind of written agreement will the two of you have?
There is so much more to breeding than putting 2 dogs together to make puppies. I am sure you will find some info in past posts about the selection of parents for puppies.
Your baby will always be your baby whether you breed him or not. He will be loved no matter what..
You've given me a lot to think about. I spoke with my vet and am aware of all the testing and will definetly get it done. However, I would not have testing done if the possibility of finding a daam doesn't exist. That is why I wanted to put feelers out. I had someone who was willing to breed their female, but she was someone I knew and she had never done it before and the dog was bought through a pet store and Pet Registry registered so I declined. There was no real way to tell for sure who the daam's parents were. That is why I came here because I knew I cuold get some good answers. I don't want to go into this haphazardly and I certainly don't want to be irresponsible in breeding him. He has a good genetic line and is AKC Registered.

Thanks so much for your help.
