I agree that quailty and health are #1. I have also seen AKC pups that are not to the standard. I would look for a breeder you like, that will be there for you after the sale to answer any questions you might have. A good health guarantee and be able to see the parents and how the pups are raised. If you are going to show then AKC is the way to go. I think the price should be based on the quality of the pup.
