I've always read to shave the upper third of both sides of the ears and to be sure to trim the edges and to use masking tape cut into triangles and place that on the inside of the ear to help it stand.
Anyone else? 
Muffin had floppy ears and Kacee has floppy ears. I've never done anything to make them stand.  |
I don't really know because Katie's ears were always up - they never flopped. But your groomer or vet should know just how much hair to shave in order to help the ears stand up. I personally think floppy ears are cute!
