Here is a link that describes what it is:http://www.4women.gov/faq/pcos.htm

I have been trying to get pregnant for quite a while now and discovered after stopping my BC pills last year that I do not have periods. I had this when i was younger and started the BC pills to regulate myself as a solution. After talking to my OBGYN she has told me I may need to go on Clomid to help me conceive.

Well after having a regular visit with my General Practitioner for a yearly check up I just mentioned it to her in passing since she knew my husband and I were trying to conceive. After talking to her a little she mentioned I could have PCOS. She told me to talk to my OBGYN about it since I am already working with her but I am kind of disturbed that my OBGYN wants to just put me on Clomid instead of telling me this is a possible diagnosis.

Any way...after reading all the things about PCOS...it sounds like I could have this besides the weight gain and the excessive hair growth.

Has anyone ever been diagnosed with this or does any one have any success stories of pregnancies? I am just really frustrated because I want to just start having my period so I can have a chance of conceiving.

Thanks!
I have pcos. I was diagnosed a few years ago. In 2005 when we were trying to get preg with our son (now 20 months) and couldnt my dr scheduled a laproscopy(sp) where he went in my bellybutton and cut a small slit there and another small slit where a c-section scar would be (but this cut is about the width of your thumb) and removed the cysts. We found out we were preg a month later and when he calculated the dates it wound up being the weekend after my surgery.
PCOS can be/is very painful at times. Your dr will prescribe meds to help with that. I have to take a VERY low does birth control because the high hormone levels in some of the stronger ones can affect it also.
