It is better to have more than one pup in a litter but when you have 5 you also have to worry about possible uterine inertia because the uterus being stretched out so much sometimes they will fail to contract.

We had that happen and ours had 4 pups. Watch for the first sign that something just isnt right, if you feel uncomfortable about it dont hesitate to take her to the vet. Its better to be safe than sorry.
