The best thing I can suggest is just to bite the bullet and do it cold turkey. Put her in the crate at night, and don't go to her when she cries. She'll probably cry pretty much all night for the first three nights. If you don't go to her, it will end eventually. If you do, it will prolong it; if you go to her in the night, it will teach her that her cries work to get her out. So grin and bear it. Also, during the day, leave the crate door open so she can go into the crate if she wants to during the day. You will probably find that she finds the crate a very comforting place.
I have to actually shut the crate door during the day to keep Chloe from "holing up in her room" as I call it. She likes her crate and likes to spend time in her little "den". |
