I have a tie -out right outside my side door that I use for Lexie. I fasten the tie-out leash to her collar. The tie-out rope is long enough that she doesn't pull on it and I have not had a problem, she has enough length that it doesn't pull on her neck at all. Now when I am taking her out for a walk or to the store, I ALWAYS use the harnesses on her.
