I agree that successful potty training is all about watching your pup VERY closely at all times..sounds like hard work i know but worth it in the end!
taking them outside every 30 mins to an hour is a good idea...take outside after every meal, drink, sleep and play...if they start sniffing round in circles nose to the ground that is a pretty good indication that they are looking for somewhere to go potty..scoop them up quick and get them outside! and if they do it in the right place lots of praise of course. confining them to a small area (crate) when you cannot watch them is a good idea too. you will get there eventually!
