I will back out of the argument now with one last statement, "If I made up the recipe OR had won prizes for the recipe OR had it published in a national cookbook OR had my own TV show where I demonstrated it on national TV, I don't think I would want someone else claiming it as their own."

Once again, sorry and thanks for setting me straight!

You make a good point, I don't think we can just ignore those recipes. That statement will have to be removed and the issue dealt with on those recipes. I don't see how they can be copyrighted unless they include extensive instructions on how to prepare the dish, but never the less, I think we should look into those. I'm not sure if we can just cite the source or if we need to rewrite the instructions. Could you PM the name of one of those and I'll look into it further. That's a Great Catch!

Unfortunately, I have entered recipe contests and I have had to sign a piece of paper acknowledging that while the recipe was my own unique creation, it would be made available for public use. It just goes with the territory of creating your own recipe and entering it into a contest. You would hope that anyone using it would give you credit but they don't have to.

Hopefully, no matter where the recipe came from, it is a tried and true recipe that someone has tried and loves.
