Linus did the same thing and when I went to the vet for it he told me that reverse sneezing is the "symptom" of collapsing trachea syndrome. He does it when he gets excited. He also said that it's not a big deal unless he does it very frequently (like 3-4 times a day) and then all we would have to do is put him on some asthma medicine.

When he does it, rub his trachea up and down gently to cause it to open back up. And make sure not to say things like "it's ok" or sound concern because that just makes it worse. But of course, always ask the vet about it!
