I am so sorry for the tragic loss of Mighty Mouse, I know your heart is broken and hurting right now. There is nothing anyone can say to make the pain go away but take heart in the joy MM gave you in the years she was with you.
It was short but from your post she taught you a lot in her time with you.
Cherish your memories of her and she would not want you or your friend to blame yourselves. Accidents happen unfortunately.
