tricky Sascha Harking back to the poster who was having difficulty being with her Yorkie 24/7........I have two amusing tales. My little Sascha has adopted a silent sentry routine to engage my attentions. We'll be in the LR and I'm lying on the couch with a quilt over me, rather engrossed with a movie, never feeling Sascha has "loaded the trap" so to speak. Then I'll suddenly realize she has been sitting or standing in one position far longer than normal, just staring a hole through me from across the room.......sure enough she had surreptitiously planted one of her many small play balls right in my lap!! I think she has waited patiently for as long as 20 minutes. Each time I LOL and the ball game begins! Who could resist that well-behaved strategy to engage my attentions without barking at me or jumping on me.
Secondly, I found a rather sturdy dog dish at Wal-Mart for her twice daily wet food servings. Lately she has discovered the joy of chewing on the sides of the dish, which held up well under her assault. Sometimes I'd catch her with her head high, bowl clenched in teeth, trotting off to have a chew for dessert! Last night she carried the empty bowl over to me and I rewarded her with praise for eating all her dinner, and then I took the bowl away.
A couple hours later I went into the office to get on the computer and noticed right smack in the middle of her doggy bed, a pile of food, uneaten. She'd dumped it there so she could playwith the bowl as a chewy........so it is true, just when you think you've got it all locked down, OUT SHE COMES with something new to keep you stimulated and feeling a bit stupid! |
