When I worked for pet supplies plus as an animal caretaker, we all received a letter from our head district warning us of what foods we recommended to our customers. Not only Iams, but Purina, and every other commercial food we carried besides Nutro, and Science Diet tested positive for Pentobarbital. The amount of trace was high enough for them so tell us that horses and larger dogs were being ground up and used as filler for these low grade commercial foods. Sodium Pentobarbital is an intermediate acting barbiturate that is used to euthanize dogs, cats, horses, etc..
I am not saying this is 100% true, I do know fox news covered it and many vets were advising patients of this discovery. Keep in mine Iams makes Eukaneuba, which in that same letter we were told that the chemical used to preserve a typical car/turck tire was found in Eukaneuba to give it a longer shelf life....... Scary
