I haven't gotten any response back from pepe mint other than that she really loves it. With the one I made there won't be any stress on their tummy or their back b/c I made it sturdy but soft lined and it gives plenty of support. It is secure b/c it has straps all around that close with side release buckles. When you set your baby down it stays on and can function as a harness. We tried it on Mitzi and she didn't mind at all. My husband carries her around with his underarm under her belly all the time so her feet hang free too and she seams to enjoy that tremendously.
