The hairs that need to be pulled are the long ones growing out of the ear canal. The reason they are pulled is to allow the ear cana to breath and dry out easier. This lessons the chances for ear infections. Don't try to pull all of the hair at one time. just take a few strands. I don't have fingernails, so I can use my fingers. You may have to use forceps. Either way it should be pulled not cut (cutting just leaves the hairs down in the ears!) and you should do only a few strands at a time.
