I was told that it is better, if your going to add another pup.. get it while they are still young.. so your dog doesn't get jealous. Either gender is fine.. I have 1 boy and 2 girls and they are great. It's even better since you are going to have your male fixed. Neither 3 of my babies are fixed yet so it's quite a hassle when my male marks anything and everything.
I also heard, if your going to add another pup.. should be either the same age or older.. that's what i've heard.. but actually my pups were 6 months old when i got Cloey who was 10 weeks old and the adjustment was fine.. i guess because all 3 are so hyper lol..
