Hello, I am new to this site. I am a certified Vet Assistant but I don't know
too much about yorkies. I will be getting one today however, the vet believes
he is 2-3 years old. He was a stray and had a bad rash they thought on his back. They soon discovered it wasn't a rash but a burn. The burn is consistent with someone pouring acid across his back. He has been at the vets and they've been putting cream on him and his hair is now growing back and they feel he's ready to go to a good home. The just neutered him and got him up to date on all his shots. I haven't seen him yet but they tell me he is 18 lbs and they say he is pure yorkie. I thought yorkies were smaller dogs! Does anyone know if this is a "normal" size for a yorkie? I'm also concerned about housebreaking him, I'm assuming he's not since he was a stray and was just fixed at 2-3 years old. How difficult do you believe it will be to get him potty trained and or to teach him not to mark? I know it's possibel with other breeds but I'm not seeing much hope for yorkies when I look around the internet. Please help!!
