Way to go on the "sit". That will come in handy and give you something to start with!!! If you can start with the "sit" you have his attention and then you can start working on other things.
Coby started out with that "walk to the corner and then sit on your butt" thing at the very beginning. The first few times we carried him over that magic line and then let him walk back. It's easier to learn to walk on a leash when you're walking, rather than sitting getting drug along. It didn't last too long.
Sounds like you're doing really well. And yes, it is babysteps!!
