Try letting him out early when he whines, 6am or whatnot, then going back to bed and bringing him to bed with you! Worked for my boys when they were babies. I would crate them at night then around 6am when they woke up and whined I took them out and waited for them to pee, then we went back to bed and they came in the bed with me. My bed was on the floor at the time though bc I had just moved into my place and wanted to paint the room before I set up all the furniture. If you can stand it, put your mattresses on the floor and let him sleep with you after the potty break. Mine curled right back up and went to sleep with me until whenever I got up! could be 9 or 10am!

now my boys are up and down the bed on their own so I get up at like 7am and let them out, then I go back to bed and leave my bedroom door open. They can come & go as they please. Most of the time they come back to bed and go to sleep while I am!
