IF he is not been used for stud, it can take time to get the hang of it..you may have to actually do the breeding yourself...
i used the bath technique many times and it always works. you know how the dogs go crazy after a bath?? they run around like mad dogs. well this gets them going the same way toward the female. the scent (which i am sure you are aware since you are a respected breeder here) again, the scent comes from inside and washing them (or should i say) just getting them wet, the scent is still there.
again, i have done this many times and it has worked each time.
