Do keep her on the h/d until you find out whats wrong. Stones is the first thing I thought of when I read the post. If a stone is lodged in her urinary tract somewhere, it will produce some blood...if its lodged in her urethra, it can certainly cause her to bleed some and make her tuck her tail because its painful.....diet high in grain and veggies will produce alkaline urine which can be responsible for an enviroment to produce certain types of stones...but diets high in protein can also set up the enviroment to produce these...so having her on a diet for this problem, (such as she is on) is best for now....rice is good for dogs that have GI trouble, but can keep the urine alkaline because its a grain....Here is a link to a great site that goes a little more into detail about this and they syptoms a dog will present with stones...hope this helps and hope your baby gets better....the reason vets will most always put a dog on antibiotics for urinary problems (like human docs)...some stones form because of infections and IF there is a stone...it acts like a sharp object that actually "nicks and cuts" the areas in the urinary tract it touches and like all cuts or open areas, its a perfect set-up for an infection (if there already wasn't one to begin with), so they want to make sure they eliminate that problem...a urinary tract infection can make these little ones very very sick...not to mention painful...I'm not a DVM yet either

not even near being one, LOL, but am a licensed nurse and OB/GYN is my passion and we dealt with lots of urinary tract problems.....gosh didn't mean to ramble this long....
