Well we tried most of what you get, and found the best to be Peat Moss - bags from the garden centre - but make sure there are no pesticides or growth chemicals in it. Microwave it and let it cool down - kills anything. We get Irish Peat Moss....it's peat....and comes in a green and white bag for about £4, that would be $8.
Also, you should give it a piece of Cork Bark (Microwave and cool it too)available from the pet shop - half a tube, or the whole tube, to give it somewhere to hide. You can add plastic plants for decoration if you want.
I will get my hubby to add anything else.....
Also, you are right to clean out periodically, but if you keep it clean, like removing poo and old food, it should be ok for quiet a while.
He will tell you anytghing else in the morning, or check out The Tarantula Store....google it, and he is a moderator on there....Highlander (Kenny)
