Ginger has used it... Hello.
I have not had any experience with Rimadyl on small dogs, but I did have to give it to my female shepherd Ginger for a while.
We rescued Ginger when she was about 18 months of age. When I brought her home I could tell there was something wrong with her hips. I called the rescue right away and they said, oh its common blah blah blah. Well, why wasn't I told about this common problem? That's another story. But we liked Ginger and wanted to keep her. Her vet said it may not be a long term problem and that the Rimadyl only needed to be taken for a short time. She did fine with it. We gave her the Rimadyl along with joint joice (chondriton) and she got better quickly. She is fine now. Although, there is a visible ifference on how she moves and how my male shepherd, Diablo, who I raised from 6 wks moves.
The medication she got was really large, like a horse pill. I'm sure the dose is adjusted for the babies. Is this something your baby absolutely has to take? I too heard it was a pretty serious drug for a dog of any size to take. So we watched Ginger very carefully. Hope this helps some. And please let me know if there is anything else I can help with! |
