I have gone to wal-mart and got some bells from the fishing department and put them on a ribbon hanging from the door knob. Maggie rings the bells when she goes out. This makes it easy for her to let me know that she needs to go outside.

when i first got maggie, i would wait outside for about 45 minutes before she would finally potty. but i wouldn't bring her in until she did her business!! she finally realized that if she just potties, she gets to go in. she caught on pretty quick and now we have no problems at all. maggie is right at 10 months old and she RARELY has an accident. i really think the bells help because she is able to tell me when she needs to go out.

some say that is bad because SHE has ME trained...but i don't look at it that way. I believe dogs need to know how to tell you when they need to go out, and this makes it easy for her to tell me. it works for us.
