We just survived a real scary event: While my wife and I were out of town and entrusting our Yorkie to my mother-in-law, we got a message on the cell phone that Eddie had freaked out when a neighbor was popping off fireworks and ran away. The mother in law swears he somehow kicked down the portable fence. I'm not sure I believe her, but he was gone for 5 hours. Oh man, we got so lucky. He took off at 1:30 a.m. and returned to the house at 6 a.m., barking at the front door. I feel like erecting a 10-foot steel door in front of our house.
