My brother works for Febreeze parent co and it is not a danger to pets.....but it also doesnt clean them either...it is for the air or softlines ( carpet, pilloes, curtains...)depending on the kind your purchase.
As for washing I wash with my dogs bath towels, any puppy clothing and any extra towels. The dryer is where the germs are killed. Placing them in the sun will kill th e germs as well. Freezing kill germs, and the bleach mix mentions kills germs.....I used to run a preschool and had to use the methods regularly...to all toys and equipment.
