I do just leave him in the bathroom, and was recently thinking of giving him more freedom while i'm gone because he is doing better with potty training. Maybe to start you should try a smaller space. I know that Gabe loves being in the bathroom where i keep him while i'm a work, even on the weekends. If he gets scared or tired he will go in there to sleep.
