 Heat
If you have it too thick it is hard to get the heat to the puppies. Once mom gets too warm she will make a mess out of the bed trying to cool herself down. As the saying goes if Mama ain't happy no one is happy.
It is a fine line with babies- you can't have then too hot and you can't have them too cool.
My hubby causes me a lot of problems cause he likes the house darn cold during the summer- I have to check any puppies I have closely to make sure that they are being kept warm and not getting cold.
