I just posted about this the other day when I took Tino to a new groomer. Its a long story, but when he was little a groomer clipped that hair and (just like you said) it poked right in his eyes! I could never trim it myself so I was having him groomed ALL THE TIME ($$$). So anyway... I decided that I didnt want the hair on his face around his eyes touched, plus it was impossible to get it up in a topknot. Well, the woman I took him to last week asked if I wanted the hair plucked. I'd never heard about that before and she said that she used to groom show Yorkies in PA and has been a groomer for 18 years and she always plucks the hair if she doesnt clip it. I can honestly say that its been a week and his eyes and face are sooo much cleaner! I think his tearducts were clogged before.
I posted to see if anyone had ever heard of this and no one had, so I cant tell you how to do it, but you may want to check with a groomer or two in your area to see if they pluck the hair there.
