My dam has had a problem with an engorged (to the point of possible infection) milk sac since the puppies were born three weeks ago. I have tried to get them to nurse in a different area, and she pushes them right back to where they started. They are now three weeks old, and the vet said that I should start weaning them so I can make sure that they are getting enough to eat. This is the second day.....and things seem to be going well so far. They seem to be a little more active and alert. Does anyone have any tips on weaning they would like to share?

Try putting out a saucer or very small shallow bowl of goat milk (diluted 1:1) or milk replacer for them to lap up while introducing them to "puppy mush" at the same time.
