I trim around Carter & Cooper's butt to prevent dingleberries but as far as the hair on the actual tail, I've never trimmed either dog's.
I took the scissors to Carter today and trimmed the stragglies from the end of his coat and wondered if I should have done something to his tail as well. Something I've learned is -- you can stretch out the rear leg and comb all hair downward and trim from behind the front leg all the way to the tip of the paw in a straight line and it works great! Stretching out the front leg and doing the same doesn't work so well. I'll have to figure out something different for that. Not sure what though.
