Default registering with akc? is it that important?

this question has been burning in me forever. mocha's parents are akc registered and the home breeder gave me papers (i just have to find it amongst all my junk ). i plan to have mocha spayed soon and have her has my companion, so i don't have any plans on breeding her or showing her.

is it that important to have her akc registered? or am i okay with not registering her? i've heard so many things about registering and not registering, so if i don't have to do it, why go through all of that?

i've looked at the akc website a ton of times and can't find the answer i want. i know that if i do register, it benefits all dogs in general with kennel inspections, search and rescue, etc, which would probably be my primary reason for registering.

thanks for all your knowledge.
