Please just be patient with this little one. Usually it takes about 2 weeks before they start feeling safe and learning who they can trust. Make sure he has a safe haven to go to until he starts to relax and knows he is in his final home.
I have rescued many abused dogs and given time they will learn to trust again but I never push them to do something they are not comfortable with and I always make sure they feel safe.
