A caretaker at Ving Rhames' Los Angeles home was mauled to death Friday by the actor's dogs, police said.
Officers were called to the actor's Brentwood address about 7:15 a.m., where they found the man lying on the front lawn, bite wounds covering his body.
The victim was not immediately identified, but Los Angeles Police Officer Sandra Gonzalez said he was a 40-year-old black man and had worked for the Mission: Impossible star for two years, maintaining the property and tending to the animals.
Rhames, 46, was out of the country shooting a movie, and his agent did not immediately comment on the attack. The actor does not have a regular publicist.
Gonzalez said that animal control rounded up all four of Rhames' dogs—three mastiffs and an English bulldog—at least two of which were belived to have been involved in the fatal mauling.
Under California law, owners are liable for dog attacks, but no charges have yet been filed.
Best known for his roles in Pulp Fiction and the Mission: Impossible trilogy, the Golden Globe-winning Rhames most recently starred in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. According to IMDb, he is currently shooting the thriller The Tournament in the U.K.
