I'm glad your friends yorkie is fine and it worked out for her, I mean no disrespect to you, but her situation is not the norm, there are exceptions to EVERY rule as in her case, but that in no way makes what I stated wrong...I still stand by what I said...it is a fact that small children have no ability of understanding empathy for others including pets, they also are not capable of judging the dangers & the consequences of what their actions may cause i.e. as in pulling a dogs hair, tail,or ears.. getting in their food bowl, which can lead to a bitten face ( this happens quite frequently )...small children also have no ability to judge right and wrong, nor do they have the full ability to feel compassion for others including pets, nor guilt for the pain they may cause...
I just don't understand the lack of ability for some one to understand that we shouldn't expect small children to be put in a position to care for a pet, when they have no concept that it's a living breathing creature, and then expect that child to understand the reality that if they decide to carry the pup (or kitten) around by the neck ( I've seen this more times than I can count) it could cause it's death....that's a lot of responsibility and great expectations to be put on a small child....and I don't think it's necessary when all the person has to do is wait a few years for the child to develope those qualities...all it takes is a little bit of patience ( by waiting) and possibly save a lot of heartache...Kisses back...
