do your socks have the cut out toes? (my husband has a foot claustraphobia thing too!)
and the heater might actually work AGAINST you by drying out the air and any moisture on your feet. i think the sock directions said something like, 'while sleeping or resting.' so maybe just sit your butt down and watch an episode of "flip this house" or "nip/tuck" and enjoy.
you could maybe also try some of those foot warmers but they don't go over your heels.
