I've found this thread interesting as I've often wondered the same thing. Recently, several of my friends have begun taking their dogs to a guy about 45 minutes from here...He encourages them to stay, and the trip is worth it. I called, and the next appt. wasn't for 45 days! LOL, I'm not that patient, so I talked to my vet. They put me in touch with a woman who is only 20 minutes away and who also invites the owners to stay! We've only been there once (and now that I've shaved Ginger, only Bernie goes next time), but what a great experience!!! I think all groomers should make this an option.

Now, I have to admit, Ginger is somewhat, ummm....highstrung. So, after a bit, I stepped outside so that she would stop trying so hard to get to me. But I did that on my own and stayed in the room the entire time that Bernie was groomed.

Good luck on grooming day!!!!!

It looks like you found yourself a wonderful groomer. That's very nice
she allows and encourges owners to stay. It makes you feel better
knowing your allowed to if you choose too. I only want to stay
because he's being muzzled. He has never been muzzled and I don't
want him stressed. He goes on the 18th. She squeezed him in for me
which was very nice. She leaves for vacation at the end of the day.
Keep your fingers crossed he's a good boy. Maybe she won't muzzle
him with me there.
