The amount of chewing a dog does with dog food before swallowing is not enough to do the teeth any good. Most of the time it goes down whole. You can give the dog a nice femur bone, and they will chew on those for hours.
I also brush thier teeth with an electric tooth brush. Then I take Q-tips, dip them in Crest mouth wash and rub all over their teeth and gums.
