I also did this with Daisy, I thought I was doing so a good job by brushing her everyday. Then I looked closely at her legs and saw that her hair was all matted at the skin. It took me 2 days of combing to get the matts all out. I was worried that I would have to shave her beautiful hair also but I just went slowly and was able to work the matts all out.
Sorry to hear you had to shave her, heres wishing it grows back quickly.
